A Memorial exhibited by Thomas Wade to be registered in the Audit Genl Office of a plantation
or tract of land containing 200 acres situate in Craven County on both sides of Buffaloe Creek
beginning at a Wh Oak corner and runs N44Ch & 72 links to a pine thence E44Ch & 72 Lks to a
pine thence S44Ch & 72 links to a pine thence E44Ch & 72 lks to the beginning, originally
granted the 31st day of Octr 1769 to John Bot-wright at the 21 thb of 3/IJg or 4/pro money
per 100 acres Conveyed by him by deed of release bearing date the 30th day of Decr 1773 to
this Mim?. In Witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand the 12th of Feby 1774.

John Bootwright : South Carolina. This Indenture
: made the thirtyeth of December
To : in the year of Our Lord One
: Thousand Seven Hundred and
Thos Wade : Seventy Three Between John
: Bootwright of Craven County in
: the Province of South Carolina,
Granted the 31st October 1769 : Planter, of the one part, and
200 Acres Dated 30th of December 1773: Thos Wade Esqr of Anson County
in the Province of No Carolina, of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said John Bootwright
for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds lawful & grant money of the Province of
South Carolina to him the said John Bootwright in hand paid at and before the Sealing and
Delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged by him the
said John Bootwright for which he hath Bargained, Sold, Aliened, Engrossed and Confirmed and
by these presents doth bargain & sell alien engross convey and confirm to the said Thos Wade
Esqr his heirs Exors Admors and assigns forever all that parcel or tract of land situate in
Craven County in the Province aforesaid on both sides of Buffalo Creek & hath such shape form
and marks as the plat to the original grant doth represent reference thereunto being had well
more fully and at large appear beginning at a White Oak Corner and runs North 44 chains and
seventy two links to a pine then West 44 chains & 72 links to a Pine thence South 44 chains
and Seventy two links to a pine thence East 44 chains & 72 links to the beginning Two Hundred
acres of land which tract of land was granted to the said Bootwright by his Majestys Letters
Patent bearing date ye 31st day of October in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred
and Sixty Nine. To have & to hold the parcel or tract of land containing two hundred acres
hereby granted and sold and all and singular the premises with their & every of their
appurtenances unto the said Thos Wade Esqr his heirs Exors Admors and assigns forever and the
said John Botwright his heirs Exors and Admors doth covenant and agree to and with the said
Thos Wade his heirs Exors and Admors and assigns that he the said John Botwright is lawfully
seized and possessed of a good and Indefeasible Estate in and to the aforesaid two hundred
acres of land intended to be hereby granted and sold and that he the said John Botwright hath
full power to bargain & sell ye said parcel of land containing two hundred acres unto the said
Thomas his heirs Exors Admors & Assigns according to the intent and meaning of these presents
and that the said Thomas Wade his heirs Exors Admors and Assigns may from time to time and at
all times hereafter have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said land and premises hereby
granted and sold without any bit hindrance molestation or denial of or from him the said John
Bootwright his heirs Exors Admors or Assigns & from every other person or persons whatsoever
claiming by him or under him or them or any of them and lastly that the said John Bootwright
for himself his heirs Exors Admors & assigns shall & will Warrant & forever defend the said
granted premises unto the said Thos Wade his heirs Exors admors and assigns against the lawful
claim of any person or persons claiming the same. Whereby the aforesaid granted premises might
be incombered __________ to the mere intent & meaning of these presents. In witness whereof
the said John Bootwright hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal the day & year first
above written.

This may certify that Caleb Williams one of the subscribing witnesses to the within deed
personally came before me Arthur Hart, one of his Majestys Justices assigned to keep the
peace for the said District and made oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God and saith
that he saw John Botwright sign seal & deliver the within Instrument of writing as his act
and deed for the uses and purposes within contained and also that at the same time saw him
assign the endorsed receipt for the consideration money in full payment for the within
described land and that he also saw Ralph Bowman and Jesse Botwright sign their names
thereunto as Witnesses as he this deponent also saith he did.
